Educational Leadership v NCLB Empty Educational Leadership v NCLB

I was attending an University of South Florida Educational Leadership class when the No Child Left Behind scores came out. Several counties/schools were represented by the educators in the class. There was a strong sense of disappointment when the Department of Education posted grades. I looked back at the pages in our textbook that addressed highstakes testing, achievement, and effective instruction. The author and his resources are highly reguarded in and out of the state. So, where am I going with this, read some of the course materials for educational leadership. Now, read NCLB. It should not take long to note several conflicts. People that have been there and done that know that NCLB is a political tool. Education is a multi-billion dollar business and politically motivated scare tactics translate into votes. God encourages us to be good citizens, stewarts, and not to be stumbling block for ANY age group. A new school year will soon begin and already the focus is on the score and not the student. Teachers continue to call for a focus on the child . . . . When will we listen?
