D.A.R. Essay Contest

The D.A.R. in my area is accepting home-school essay submissions to this years Essay contest

Eassy questions this year is as follows:

5th-8th grade What message did the Gettysburg Address communicate to our war-torn nations in 1863? How are the ideals articulated in hte speech still relevant for our country today?"

9-12th grade

Discuss five perils faced by Christopher Columbus' expedition(s) and how Columbus and his crew overcame them.

Check with your local D.A.R. for further information and contact person.

Everybody should have turned their essays in by this time. As they are due to be judge on state level by the 10th.

Thank you for being involved with the Essay Contest. I can only imagine the time that you spent on this. One would think that every school would want their students involved in this very important project. It would be VERY sad indeed to hear that only a small handful responded. My students are not in grades five or higher.... or they would have been involved.
We need to invest in our public school students.................
